We are learning more about a car crash that killed four-year-old, Reece Watkins over the weekend in Benzie County.
Watkins’ mother, Isabella Bronson was behind the wheel early Saturday morning.
She was driving heading North West on M-115 North of Lindy Road in Benzie County when she lost control of the car and ended up hitting a tree.
Deputies say Watkins was killed on impact and was not properly restrained in the back seat.
They also found evidence in the car of drug use.
They’re looking into whether that could be a factor in this crash.
The Benzie County Sheriff’s Department says everyone should keep kids safe in the back seat, no excuses.
“We have car seats available if you can’t get one on your own or you can’t afford one. There’s means and there’s ways out there to seek out seek help,” said the Benzie County Undersheriff, Kyle Rosa.
He says they have three deputies trained in how to properly restrain children while driving and you can call them if you have any questions.
