THE GOOD: It’s never been hard to love Sandra Bullock (Practical Magic cemented her place in my heart) but on last year’s Ocean’s 8 press tour, she took her style to another level. Remember that one stripy, sequined Zuhair Murad jumpsuit? Outstanding. Anyway, it’s delightful to see that she’s continuing this form. Seen here in luxurious, voluminous Martin Grant, Sandy B brings some very pleasing romance and drama to this Bird Box screening. The red lip and the sharp bob are the perfect counterpoints, and in a weird way, so is her poorly dressed costar. Style really shines when it’s next to a bad blazer and turtleneck combo.

THE GOOD: This elegant Victoria Beckham getup is lovely on the artist formerly known as Meghan Markle, now of course the Duchess of Sussex. The Philip Treacy hat says “Yes, I’m a member of The Firm,” the over-the-knee boots add “however, I’m still bad”. Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, also looks lovely in her coordinating deep red ensemble. Her heels and stockings compared to Meghan’s boots say all you need to know about the differences between the two women’s looks.

THE GOOD: Tim Gunn would say it's a lot of look, but I'm charmed by this Elie Saab outfit on Hailee Steinfeld. It's a beautiful textie, for a start, and that burgundy Penny Lane coat is stunning. Does she remind me a tiny bit of an eccentric and elderly widow? Well, yes, but in this case I'm about it. The gal is 22 - now's the time for some out-the-gate fashion choices.

THE GOOD: Perhaps easier to love is Isabelle Huppert in Christian Dior Haute Couture. This is some straightforward dreaminess. I feel like I can hear the clinking of Champagne glasses and some soft Edith Piaf while looking at these pictures. Very French, very timeless. The crossover bodice and the skinny belt are particularly neat details.

THE UNEXPECTED: Huppert's countrywoman Juliette Binoche is possibly the last person I'd expect to see in one of Olivier Rousteing's signature Balmain looks. All that structure and embellishment doesn't really gel with her usually more relaxed style, and yet I'm very much enjoying this look. She looks like a stained glass window. A sleek, sporty ponytail was 100 per cent the right call re: hair.

THE BAD: You don't tend to hear the phrase 'dull as dishwater' very much anymore, but that's the only way to describe this Gabriela Hearst frock on Felicity Jones. The Rogue One star is truly gorgeous, and not at all served by this washed out, wrinkled, underwhelming shift dress. Jones usually sticks to Burberry, Christian Dior and Alexander McQueen, who are much kinder to her. Better luck next time.

THE BAD: EastEnders star Maisie Smith is only 17, so there's still plenty of time for her style to evolve, but I'm not feeling this loungewear and Instaglam combo. It's overcooked and sloppy at once, which isn't the blend to aim for. Important to remember, though, that at 17 I was mostly wearing too-tight jeans, band t-shirts, cardigans and overly long necklaces with birds on them. We've all made mistakes.

THE BAD: On the one hand I get it - what does one wear with their collared leather playsuit? On the other, though, I really don't think that a shower curtain from one of the latter seasons of Mad Men was the way to go. This is Chinese actor Vicky Chen Wen-chi, and while I haven't been able to establish who she's wearing, I don't think anyone’s going to rush out and buy this, so it doesn’t seem like too big of an issue. I've just spotted that the playsuit has a peplum, too. Will the most cursed trend of 2012 never leave us?

THE BAD: I won't lie to you, dear readers, it's been a very dry week. Celebrities are mostly spending time with their loved ones, rather than parading around in outfits for us to judge, and I've really had to scrape. Thank god, then, for Rita Ora. Seen here in Moncler and Palm Angels, she's up to her usual tricks. I simply cannot understand this jacket. Were the designers more inspired by the protective packaging on a duty free bottle of gin, or by a cockroach? Sound off in the comments below.

THE BAD: Having never set foot in Spain, I can't say for sure whether Tristan Ramirez and Cosima Ramirez would look any less bananas by local standards, but my instincts say no. Queen Letizia is one of the world's most stylish royals - surely she wouldn't approve of this Portlandia-style mess. The self-conscious whimsy, the eye-watering colours and aggressive textures, his trousers… None of it is good. They look like they have a joint Tinder profile where they solicit single women for threesomes. No thank you.

Sandra Bullock and Hailee Steinfeld are winning this week but Felicity Jones has been served a dud.

In this weekly fashion fest, we only bring you the horrors and the hits from the red carpets and only cover events where celebrities know they’ll be snapped and critiqued for their fashion (so no Britney leaving Maccas in her trackies.)

Why? Well because all humans – even celebs – should be allowed to look rubbish while packing a Quarter Pounder (testify!).
