The Red Earth Arts Precinct is set to have its roof blown off as the town gets ready to be left in stitches.
Australian comedy legends Fiona O’Loughlin and Peter Rowsthorn will be taking their jungle adventures to Karratha on Saturday, February 9, for their upcoming show, Ron and Brenda Go Country.
Peter Rowsthorn told Pilbara Newsthe inspiration for the show was the alter egos she and Peter created during their stint on the Channel 10 show I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!
“The worst part about the jungle was during the down time when there was just nothing to do,” he said.
“One of the ways to escape was to improvise stupid stuff with people who can do it and I was lucky to be bunking with Fiona, who is great at that.”
“We started doing Ron and Brenda to amuse ourselves, but then we were playing the characters in the interview booth, having a wedding and now we’re touring the country as these alter egos.”
Rowsthorn said the show would involve stand-up routines from both himself and O’Loughlin before the pair came together to “really spill the beans” on what went on in the jungle.
“We’re both independent stand-up comedians,” he said.
“So we each do our own 40-minute sets and then go out together to talk openly about the jungle and do a bit as Ron and Brenda.”
Rowsthorn said he was looking forward to performing in the North West again.
“I’ve done a fair bit of touring through the Pilbara and have done shows at the Tambrey and some of the mining camps before,” he said.
“I’ve driven around the region a lot and I think it’s really really beautiful.”
Tickets for Ron and Brenda Go Country, which Rowsthorn calls “just brutally funny”, are available from the REAP website.
“We really know what we’re doing, so you definitely get your money’s worth,” he said.
