Mike Mills, of Provo and who teaches photography and commercial art at Skyridge High School and two-dimensional design at Utah Valley University, fills in the background of a piece of art with paint within the Woodbury Art Museum’s newly-opened exhibit, “Heros & Villians: How Myth Made Fantasy Monarchs, Magic & Monsters”, on Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at University Place in Orem. The exhibit, led by curator, DC Comics artist and Utah Valley University assistant professor Chad Hardin, opened Tuesday and invites the community to colorize artwork from several artists focusing on themes of fantasy and mythology. “This unique hands-on exhibition for the entire family features original artwork depicting famous stories and characters from Aladdin to the Hobbit,” said Lisa Anderson, director of UVU’s Woodbury Museum of Art, in a press release. All art supplies are free to use for anyone interested in painting the exhibit’s artwork. “Masters of Fantasy: The Art of Greg & Tim Hildebrandt” is another newly-opened, but hands-off exhibit at the art museum, and it features the work of the Hildebrandt brothers, who are most known for their artwork featured in “The Lord of the Rings”, Star Wars,” and “Clash of the Titans”. “Heros & Villians” will be open until September 14, and “Masters of Fantasy will be open until December 14.
