Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Important reminder: Rumors are just that — rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact, it’s just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. We track rumor accuracy in a weekly feature called Rumor Look Back you can find here. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.

Rumors for the Day:

  • A man wearing a mask ran in at an indie show and did a GTS this weekend, and rumors are that man was actually CM Punk.
  • Wrestling Inc claims there was a plan for Punk to unmask and show it was him but that obviously didn’t happen.
  • On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer mentioned the belief within WWE is that Dean Ambrose won’t be wrestling anywhere outside of WWE and will instead be going on hiatus from pro wrestling altogether.
  • WWE Backlash, which had previously been scheduled for June 16, has been cancelled, per the Observer. This could be because of the Saudi Arabia show that will run on June 7.
  • Starrcast will announce a major name sometime this week, someone Dave Meltzer says is one of the greatest wrestlers ever.
